Located just east of Toledo, Oregon, Ohio rests on the western edge of Lake Erie and as a result has many scenic vistas, including the beautiful Maumee Bay State Park. Oregon’s location makes it a boater’s and fisherman’s haven with easy access to the water and the Lake Erie Islands.
Oregon’s public schools are ranked in the top 40% of all Ohio school districts and its private high school, Cardinal Stritch, was previously named one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools by the Catholic High School Honor Roll. In 2018, Cardinal Stritch was awarded a Top Workplace by the Toledo Blade.
In addition to Maumee Bay, Oregon has the 624 acre Pearson Metropark, which is a well-known spot for bird watching, tennis, baseball, ice skating, sledding, and more. It offers three miles of trails and a bird feeding station at the Nature Center. Another local gem is the Sundance Kid Drive-In, which first opened in 1956. Oregon is also home to one of the largest and most popular annual events in Northwest Ohio, the German American Fest. The GAF attracted roughly 40,000 guests in 2019 and continues to grow each year.
